We’re Hare to be Our Authentic Selves and Share our Sparkle: An interview with Intuitive Artist Ilisa Millermoon

Hey there!  I’ve decided to pick up on my interviews since I have met some fantastic people lately.  You can find my previous interviews here

My featured inspirational spiritual business owner today is Ilisa Millermoon.  She is an intuitive energy artist and original “sparkly spirit.”  She has amazing energy and I had way too much fun interviewing her!

SG: Describe your business.  How did you get started?

I got started twelve years ago at the age of 36.  I felt it was now or never.  I left my art behind and got a “real job” after splitting from my husband.  It was only temporary and then I picked up where I left off.  I’ve been a full time artist for the past five years and in the past year I came out of the spiritual closet, so to speak, and started to speak about my angels and spirit guides.

I opened an Etsy store and I offer an intuitive energy package that includes a painting, crystals and messages from spirit.

Believe it or not, my art degree actually dampened my creativity!!

SG: When was the first time you realized you were different spiritually?
At about four years old I had an imaginary friend named Nonie (click here to see artwork on Nonie).  She was actually a spirit guide, a woodland child that was two feet tall, gold colored with hair made of leaves.

I grew up in a Mennonite family.  By the time I was seven, I realized that this was not my people.  They believed in pacifism and treated women like they were second class, so I disconnected from my family.

SG: When was the first time you decided to find out what your gifts were and how to use them?

I always knew that I was an artist.  My mission is to celebrate the strength and passion of women.  The seed was planted in college.  I didn’t have any support from anyone.  I was ready to learn something new.

It’s not my job to do the work for others, though.  I point them in the right direction.

SG: If you could give advice to your younger self/child about your gifts, what would you say?

Just be you and enjoy each moment.  Learn to breath.  When I was small, I would hide from my mother by creating a fort in the woods.  I had to learn to breathe again.  I embraced all of it, all the mistakes and owned my life.

SG: What advice would you give to someone who just realized their spiritual gifts?

It’s been difficult to convince young people not to worry about what others think of them.  My advice is to 1) find your pain and discover your passion and 2) figure out what problem in the world today do you want to solve with your gifts.

SG: What part of your gift is your favorite and why?  What is your least favorite and why?

Creating and being in that zone and space with an amazing realm of beings.  I’ve been working on sculptures, such as my seven foot goddess sculpture.  Transferring what’s in my brain and having my spirit team with me, like Archangel Michael, Raphael and even Gene Wilder for some humor!

I don’t really have a least favorite part.  Perhaps when people want me to teach them or do the work for them.

SG: What is the funniest thing that happened to you regarding your gifts?

Yesterday I took a walk and stopped a neighbor who asked about my dog who passed away.  I told him the dog was coming back in March and the look on his face was like “OK.”  I told him the dog would show up on my porch.  I get tickled over people’s responses to me being just myself.

SG: Why do you think the Creator gave us these gifts?  And what are we supposed to use them for?

We are all in this magical journey and we’re here to help each other evolve.  I am using my gifts to honor mother goddess and help women transform their lives.

SG: Why are we here?

We’re here to be our authentic selves and share our sparkle and sort out our shit so we can move to the next level.

SG: What do you wish that people knew/understood the most about you?

People mistake my kindness for weakness.  I am fearless and will protect my loved ones.  My silence doesn’t mean agreement.  I am just learning who people are.

SG: What do you wish the world would know/understand?

I wish humanity would understand we are responsible for the world we are creating.  We have the power to change it.  People have the power and change comes from power.

SG: What do you envision the world will be like in the future?

We need to change the way we live or we’re going to be extinct.  Mother earth doesn’t need us.  I have a good feeling that amazing shifts are coming.

I send out waves of love and that is what I am in control of.
