It’s Time to Share Your Gifts with the World: An Interview with Violet Moon

I met Violet Moon of Soul Centered Momma, through a mutual friend and high school classmate Maisha Hudson (click here for Maisha’s interview).  After reading some of her insightful comments, I friended her and I had a wonderful time interviewing her.  She is certainly an old soul who has done a tremendous amount of work on herself and can therefore guide others, especially mothers, in their healing work as well.

SG: Describe you and your business.  How did you get started?

I started over five years ago with general readings for people and I discovered I was an empath.

My work mirrors my life.  In a sad way, I had four small children at home at the time and I was mirroring their emotions.  I tuned in with myself and I realized that I was feeling their feelings.  I am very connected to the emotions of the people around me and this led me down the rabbit hole, so to speak.

SG: Who are you helping and how?

When I have the opportunity, I help mothers, this is my passion. Mothers in general have gotten lost in the logistics of motherhood and living their lives.  I help mothers understand their energetic connections with their children so they can parent with awareness.  I bring the big picture to them and give them steps on how to stop struggling with their children’s behaviors and patterns.

SG: Who inspires you?

My husband and children inspire me.  My husband is very much present in our world and he forces me to be practical.  My children remind me of the importance of going within myself so I can release what is not serving them.  There is a connection between their behavior and my reactions.  I always have to check within myself as their mother.

SG: What’s the most important thing a teacher or mentor taught you and why?

My mother is a very intuitive woman but she runs on her emotional side.  Her lack of balance created results that she did not want.  She reminds me to look deeply into situations.  She teaches me to approach life holistically and to be more accepting.

SG: When was the first time you realized you were different, especially spiritually?

About six years ago I became curious when I participated in a group for empaths. I decided to test myself regarding the emotions I was picking up from others by reading other people’s energies.  My abilities grew from there.

SG: If you could give advice to your younger self about your gifts, what would you say?

The best thing to do at any moment is to tap in.  Don’t be afraid.  Your inner wisdom is always there, go for it.  These gifts don’t have to look a certain way, be open to what happens.

SG: What advice would you give to someone who just discovered their spiritual gifts?

Spend time with your emotions before you put yourself out there.  We are so quick to jump into it and there is a lack of understanding that your emotions can create attachments.  To do your best work, you need to get to a place of clarity.

SG:  What part of your gift is your favorite and why?  What is your least favorite and why?

I love being able to connect to the whole picture because it reminds me that we are all connected.  I love seeing the whole picture as the information comes in.  I see the past and present at once.

My least favorite part is Spirit waking me up at night.  I also refuse to allow Spirit to show me the dark traumatic things that has happened to us.  Instead, I tap into the emotions of those events.

SG: Tell me something funny about your gifts.

I was working with a client who had an intense relationship with her mother, who had passed. She kept hinting to me to connect with her mother.  Her mom then poked me and grabbed my foot so I could pass on her messages to her daughter.

SG: What do you wish the world would know or understand about you?

I am a human being with a normal life.  I am just a mom and I struggle too.  I am nobody’s guru.

SG: Why do you think the Creator gave us these gifts?  And what are we supposed to use them for?

We are the chosen ones that are able to do something with our gifts.  These gifts are cultivated over many lifetimes.  These gifts are needed because the world is chaotic.  The timing is right for us to step in and do these things.

SG: Why are we here?

We are here to experience and grow.

SG: What do you wish the world would know or understand?

We are all one.  Everything is connected to everything else.  A lot of suffering comes from our inability to understand emotionally and energetically that we are one.

What do you envision the world will be like in the future?

A really beautiful place, it will be like a utopia.  We’ll be connected to the source and Mother Earth.  We will release our dependence on the dark side.
