How I Figured Out That I Was in Virginia to Heal the Energetic Scars of the Civil War and Slavery

I remember watching the miniseries Roots on TV as a child.  I’ve seen it so many times I can’t count.  I felt like it was always on TV.  Interestingly enough, my husband grew up in GA and doesn’t recall it ever being on TV.  Recently the History channel redid the series and I watched it again.  I was riveted, like I was in that time period.  I cried at every atrocity that I witnessed.

When I moved to Northern Virginia in 1998, I noticed that locals were very aware of their Civil War history.  I saw signs for Civil War Trails and artwork of the Civil War on the walls of Washington DC restaurants.  It puzzled me.  After doing a little research, I realized a lot of the Civil War clashes occurred in VA, MD and PA.

For the record, I never believed the Civil War was about states’ rights, unless it was states’ rights to keep the institution of slavery intact.

Last March, my friend and I decided to “clear” a local battlefield in Maryland.  We wanted to challenge ourselves since we already had experience moving lost souls into the light.  But we wanted to do something bigger and we did it.

So, I pondered how is all of this connected?

I was always pulled toward the south for some reason.  I explained it away for various reasons, I like the warmer weather, there were more public administration jobs near DC (my former educational training), people were nicer, I felt more comfortable there etc.  But they were not logical reasons.  There were plenty of reasons not to like the south, the more conservative politics, the lack of socialism and care for its neediest constituents etc.  Still I want to go further south.

Now I am. I am moving to Charleston, SC next month.  As you know, this is where the Civil War started at Fort Sumter.  Again, the Civil War thing.

So I can only conclude that this must be part of my purpose.  I proved to myself that I can clear leftover stuck energy from Civil War battles and those who were affected by it.  And I plan to do the same in Charleston.

Some quick historical facts about South Carolina and Charleston…

  • By 1860, there were 4 million slaves in the United States, and 400,000 of them — 10 percent — lived in South Carolina.  African-Americans, enslaved and free, made up 57 percent of the state’s population. Charleston was the nation’s capital of the slave trade, the place where many of those enslaved people first landed in the New World.
  • The city was built on slave labor and, for nearly 200 years, thrived under a slave economy.
  • During the Transatlantic Slave Trade, about 40 percent of enslaved Africans brought into the country passed through Charleston Harbor.
  • South Carolina held such a concentration of slave labor because the Lowcountry’s largest cash crop was rice, which required 10 times the labor needed to harvest, say, short staple cotton.
  • By 1860 there were 14 men who owned 500 or more slaves, and a majority of them lived in the Lowcountry (Source)

As you can see, this is an important place.  And we all know that we haven’t even scratched the surface of healing from this, especially energetically.

This is where I come in.  My plan is this.  I am going to every historical landmark, every plantation and perform an energetic clearing.  Any souls stuck in these places, and I am sure there are many, I will guide into the light.  I will tackle this one place at a time until I feel it is done.  And then maybe we can all move on, if not consciously, unconsciously.

This country is never going to heal until we address this dark part of our past.  I certainly want to move it along.

When I realized that this was part of my purpose, I asked some guidance from my crystal pendulum.  It went something like this…

Is this why I moved to VA?  Yes

Have I healed the leftover energy from Civil War and slavery in this area?  Yes

Will someone take my place when I leave? No

Is the healing completed here?  Yes

And so, I’ve done my job!  I’ve lived in Virginia for 18 years.  Maybe it took that long, or maybe I just needed to be here to hold the light until the energy could move.  I look forward to doing the same in Charleston, except this time I have the metaphysical tools to do the job.
